Our emotions are the prime drivers of our lives. Whether it is success or happiness it is all driven by our prime state of mind or emotions. What we feel today we create tomorrow. These driving emotions are either fear, ego or love. The main point to remember is that we are born as pure love and our environment and upbringing instills fear or ego in us. However, deep down we go in fear and ego, there is always source of love available in us that we can tap to transform our and lives around us.
Fear is essentially an emotional state where we are driven by survival and we see practically every situation as a threat that needs to be overcome. Ego is essentially an emotional state that says that we need to be better than others, that we need to be competitive and we need to prove that we are worthy – whether it is by acquiring things or being more successful in monetary and external ways. Love on that other hand is an emotional state that drives behaviors that are creative, compassionate and abundant where we want everyone to be happy.
Blackhole of Fear
Fear becomes part of our system as people around us condition us to believe that the “world is a hostile place”. That others cannot be trusted and life is in general dangerous – whether the danger is physical or emotional or one of just our happiness.
Any fear can be rationalized or justified, the real question is does being in a fear state serve us. Justifiable or not being in fear disempower us and relinquishes us to a life of constant struggle where we are either down or barely managing.
Fear evokes a protect response that saps our creative energy and puts us perpetually on the back foot in life. Fear renders all are effort ineffective and makes us feel like we are pushing the same rock up the hill constantly.
The fear could be a subconscious one, what we label a practical one or outright paralyzing one. Regardless, the mechanics of fear is to eat us up from inside while we believe we are just coping with a hostile outside world.
The Cancer of Ego
Ego develops in us as being “competitive” or “better than others” is inculcated in us as a necessity or a way to be worthy – worthy of acceptance, love or status. Ego emanates from the deep seated feeling in us that “we are just not good enough as we are” and that if we can achieve something big then we would be worthy. The irony is that chasing worthiness is a never ending struggle that we can never win.
Ego separates us from our nature and from others around us. It separates us from the synergistic power of relationships and puts us into a life of “isolated struggle”. Ego makes everything we do disconnected and stressful. Ego is what creates hyper competitive organizations that chase profits and revenue without consideration for being conscious about wellbeing of and value to others in our ecosystem.
Ego makes us believe that Love is a weakness. Ego may motivate us to achieve but it often comes a very high price of relationships, health and sustainability. Ego often blurs the lines the ethics and means and allows us to twist and justify the means we deploy to achieve what we want to achieve.
The Joy of Love
When I asked a room full of executive what the word Love meant for them – the most common response was “It has nothing to do with work or business”. Some said it was about their children or family.
Love to me is much more broader is about the emotion you bring to everything you do. It is the energy of positive intention that transforms everything it touches. It is something that gives us deep resilience and bring resonance in our effort to create life results nothing short of a miracle.
Energy of love is what makes us lucky with opportunities – whether they come from unexpected referrals at work or whether they come from anonymous contributions for our success from many around us. Love is what unblocks resistance and creates a flow that grows exponentially in its impact.
Love is what enables us to thrive. Love is what helps us go beyond and surmount impossible hurdles within ourselves and in the external world. Love is what makes the journey amazing and brings us happiness throughout regardless of the end result.
Awareness
Awareness is a quality we can cultivate that allows us to stay connected with our emotions and create a “buffer and a switch” between our immediate emotions, our thought cycles, our words and our actions.
If we cultivate awareness, we will be able to see when are words or actions are coming from fear or ego. We will be able to self correct rather quickly without going into long periods of self destructive behavior. With awareness, we will be able to let go and allow space for right things to happen at the right time and not constantly push to make what we feel needs to happen. With awareness, we will be able to maintain our “positive creative energy” towards building better life and drop the chasing and pushing.
With awareness of our emotions we will be able to BE our life-creative best.
