We all are born as a ‘pure soul’ then life happens to us and we start asking what is life’s purpose. The first and primary task at hand is to dust off all that we gather that makes our soul impure. Then once that is done only then can we truly begin soul’s journey towards higher goals such as ‘cutting karma’ and breaking the cycle of life and death.
How does the soul gather layers of dust?
A child is born innocent, a child does not understand race, religion, or any other man made divides. A child does not understand fear, does not understand control and manipulation. All these are learned behaviors through well meaning parents, teachers, and religious figure heads.
A child’s physical and psychological survival depends on parents, family and other institutions. Whenever in childhood there is turmoil, scarcity, or emotionally disturbing situation the child learns these techniques to cope and survive. This creates a “Hurt child ego” which takes it away from the pure soul that was born.
Dual Personality
The more tumultuous and fanatic the childhood of a child, the more likely the child will develop dual personality. One is driven by the “hurt child ego” and another is the “pure soul”. The pure soul may operate in a normal and non conflicting and loving environment, while the “hurt child ego” is activated as a learnt protective mechanism when the emotional or physical security of the person is at risk even as an adult.
Happiness
There is a constant battle between the pure soul and “hurt child ego” and the conflict becomes severe when the environment is hostile and non loving. When the environment is driven by fear and not by love. When the person is denied in many ways consistently of peace and love.
In a scenario like that, the first task at hand is to start increasing our awareness of these two states and see which state are we operating from how often. One of the ways of increasing awareness is through various meditation techniques. Until this awareness is increased and the duality is dropped chasing true happiness is like a dog chasing its tail.
Life’s Purpose
Life’s first and foremost purpose then is to drop this duality and come to the state of pure soul. When we continue to be a state of duality life continues to give us experiences to tell us that we should change. We can choose to learn from these experiences and grow or we can learn to stay where we are. If we choose to not change and get in alignment with the universal laws that pure soul naturally understand, then life will continue to give us negative experiences.
Pure Soul vs. Hurt child ego
Here are some indicators of which of the two is at play:
- Love vs. Fear initiated action
- Freedom vs. Control
- Space vs. Manipulation
- Spontaneous vs. Deliberate and measured
- Joy vs. Negative emotions
- Peace vs. Conflict
- Open vs. Closed and Protective
There are many emotions we can list here, however, they can all be categorized into “Positive Emotional State” vs. “Negative Emotional State”.
Wish that all of us can be “One” with ourselves.
I leave you with two amazing quotes from ‘Conversation with God’ – Neale Donald Walsh:
“There is only one sacred promise – that is to tell and live your truth. All other promises are forfeiture of freedom and that can not be sacred. For freedom is who you are”
“Truth, Joy, Love – are interchangeable. One leads to other, and it matter not in which order they appear. All lead to me (God). All are me”
