Our current circumstances and fear have a way of making us lose faith in our vision of ‘what good life is” and what is possible to achieve. In the day to day fight to survive – whether it is ensuring financial viability of our business or buying that house because we believe we need it for survival or whether it is holding on to the loved one by all means – has a way of distracting us from what we need to do to get what we really want in the long run.
Mechanics of Fear
Fear wins by making us losing faith in our own vision of how things and life should be. True that there times and circumstances which make our vision of positive life appear impossible. In these times we start channelizing our energy into surviving and protecting what we have – that is totally natural. Yet, the outcome of this feeding of energy to protection and survival, means that we are not feeding energy to our positive vision of life. This imbalance of “where we feed our energy”, takes us further away from our alignment to create the good life we need for our true happiness.
Fear is fed by stories of constraints, what is right or wrong according to others and society to such extent that we SUBCONSCIOUSLY start believing what we want is not possible or not right. Moreover, protecting mode never leads to creation, it at best protects the basic minimum which regardless erodes because of lack of creation energy. You may use fertilizer occasionally to protect a plant, however it needs daily watering to grow.
In business fear may amount to ‘taking on clients and business’ for cashflow that is not aligned to our long term vision. Such business and clients almost always suck up so much organizational energy that when an opportunity that is aligned to our vision comes along we are not able to give it the focus and energy it deserves. Eventually leading to less than optimal results.
In relationship arena, it may amount to choosing to feed time and energy to a partner who is available to you today but not right for you. Or if you are already in a good relationship, not feeding it enough good positive creative energy to deepen the relationship and doing the base minimum while you deal with your constraints.
In parenting arena, it amounts to focusing on protecting your child from harm and not spending time is exposing them to a life and circumstances that eventually make them stronger and independent.
Creation is the only real way out of survival
Many people turn to indulgence or spiritual practices in difficult times as they desperately need a sense of peace around them to prevent them from a breakdown. Indulgences and hope from spirituality are quick fixes or can be an escape from reality that is not sustainable if that is the only focus.
While these can help us survive and get our basic strength back sometimes, it is a not a place you can reside in forever. In the end, a good life is only created by holding an “empowering vision of your best life”and regardless of your current circumstances, spending time and energy strengthening this vision.
Even when our vision appears impossible, and we have no clue how exactly we will be able to manifest what we want, it is important to start acting in the direction of your vision by proactively – not reactively defending – doing small things daily that help create the future reality. Not knowing the whole path should not dissuade you from taking one step in the right direction every day.
Faith is not chanting prayers or just hoping that somehow magically some divine intervention will give you life you want. Faith is daily courage to act in small ways with a deep feeling of peace, joy and trust in the universe that the life you want is bound to manifest. Remember, what you feed your energy, you strengthen. What you starve (from your creative energy) withers and dies a unexplained natural death.
So how much of your time, energy, and actions (however small) are channeled today towards protection and survival and how can you today start to change the ratio more towards creation of the beautiful life you always wanted and deserved?
