There are times in life when we run ahead, then there are times when things don’t work out as planned and we reach a state of disturbance. We try hard to get out of that, fix things and start running again in life, however it feels like we are constantly spinning our wheels.
Recently, I had similar experiences. After four months of turmoil, I reached a state where I felt empty, I felt that I was happy regardless of what happens, I felt content and did not feel the compelling need to keep doing what I did in the past. At that point I realized that to really move ahead in life we have to first work on reaching a point of freedom – freedom from the past – a Zero Point.
Zero point as I define it is ‘ An emotional state where we drop all the past baggage including attachments, guilt, fears, and even aspirations’. A point where we are emotionally ready to empty all aspects of our lives and look at everything afresh.
A simple physical analogy is a cluttered ladies vanity box. To get it to a state where it can regain its beauty and utility, one has to be first empty all its content and then dispassionately examine all its contents one-by-one for its real utility and need. Then only put back the content that has value in your life.
When we first work to empty the past – work to say sorry where needed, accept the reality where needed, and feel gratitude for what all you still had and parts you still have – then only we can create a future for us that we desire and deserve.
True freedom to create a better future and happiness only comes when you have dropped all of the emotional bindings of the past and the compulsions of your aspirations.
I close it by a quote I read today (serendipity I may say I read this when I was feeling Zero Point).
“Question your stories of the past until you lose all your stories of the future. Suddenly everything that stands before you is so clear, empty and undisguised. Light interpenetrating light in crystalline silence. A freedom you never imagined existed.” Nithya Shanti
