All of us have adversity or unforeseen unpleasant or outright dejecting situations. Many of us refuse the accept the reality as something that carries the seed of a brighter future and simply resign to fate instead of having faith.
If we are able to accept today’s as perfect and “as it is” then we are ready for the next step of having faith. Many shun faith as being impractical or mentally tell themselves I will have faith when I see results. That is exactly the opposite of faith. If you could reason with your today’s circumstances you should not have been in those circumstances. Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe.
To have faith one needs to have the following perspective stated by Warren Stagg – “Unpleasant experiences are painful but they are a necessary contribution to advanced intellectual development actually they are a gift from our higher self to inspire awareness and creativity. Every time we deal with adversity we grow in power and responsibility. So lets chose to be grateful for our challenges and welcome our opportunities for expansion of consciousness. Find the solutions.”
We very often jump into finding solutions without faith its like taking flight without wings. In adversity we can approach future with two emotions – one is anxiety other it is faith.
Just ask yourselves a simple question – “what is a more empowering choice I can make that will create a better future” and you know that faith is the only way to go.
Referring to my comment on Step I, we have already shown faith there in divine justice. Without faith, why would we at all accept something contrary to what we want ?
My take on Step II is : Understanding where we transgressed the divine laws, and meditating to find what should be our response.
Our destiny is not shaped by the events that happen to us, but actually by the responses we make to them. Once we know what has created the current situation, we can next figure out how to get out of it.
Faith does run as an undercurrent all through. Isn’t that so ?
I shall like to share a saying of my Master who authored the great spiritual classic ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’:
“Dear Father, whatever conditions confront me, I know that they represent the next step in my unfoldment. I will welcome all tests because I know that within me is
the intelligence to understand and the power to overcome.
– Sri Paramahansa Yogananda, “Metaphysical Meditations”
So a cool, wise, introspective analysis and intuitive chalking out of the future plan, as I see it, should be Step II. With all our faith, we have to be ceaselessly active and exploring, for success is a journey.
